Photolite Pro – fixed text length for home page boxes

Hi

is there a way to make the boxes (from the page list on Theme Options) display a fixed amount of text I choose rather than the amount it choses or to use a WordPress Excerpt?

An Excerpt would be good because then the text on the home page box could be different from the text on the page – good for SEO.
