First you need to add some pages by go to Pages >> Here you can add some pages.
Then go to Appearance >> Menu >> Create menu name primary and add some pages and check the below checkbox as theme location primary. So the pages you have selected will display in the menu bar.

The text you have seen in the sidebar is a default text coming from the sidebar.php file. Go to Appearance >> Editor >> sidebar.phpORYou can use the widget instead default text by go to Appearance >> Widget >> add some widget in blog/page sidebar
