Dropdown width and color

Hi,

I have changed the width of the dropdown with this code

.sitenav ul li ul li a {width: auto; white-space: nowrap; }

All items are now on a single row, but the background color isn’t as wide as the row, see attachment. I’ve tried several codes but can’t fix it. Ca you help me?
